Emultech retains Scott Fleming as COO and expands scientific staff

Scott Fleming joins Emultech as Chief Commercial Officer to expand and accelerate growth

Mr. Fleming brings nearly 30 years experience in the pharmaceutical and drug delivery industries, with a background that includes management & technology consulting, entrepreneurship and executive commercial positions in both large and specialty pharmaceutical companies. Mr. Fleming co-founded MicroDose Therapeutx, a drug delivery and specialty pharmaceutical company which was acquired by Teva Pharmaceuticals in 2013.

Emultech expands scientific staff

Also joining Emultech this month are Thao Pham, PhD and Freek van der Heijden, MSc.

Dr. Pham is an experienced researcher in bio-based materials and an expert in bio-engineered proteins and carbohydrates used for hydrocolloid formulations and active gels in biomedical applications.  After receiving her PhD from Wageningen University, NL, Dr. Pham was a postdoctoral researcher fabricating new proteinaceous nano-capsules and also developed innovative thermosensitive protein-based hydrogels.  As a Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, she developed nanofibers to be used in hydrogels and membranes for wound healing.  Dr. Pham has a Master’s in Biomedicine with experience in molecular biology, genetic engineering and neuronal diseases like multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.

Mr. van der Heijden is a biomedical engineer who received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology.  His research projects included; regulation of osteoclastic activity in an osteoblast/ osteoclast co-culture towards in vitro bone remodelling model, as well as an image segmentation method for automatic resorption pit detection and quantification.  He also worked on the implementation of an in silico model for bone cell behaviour in a mechanically and biochemically loaded tissue engineered scaffold.

To support its growing team, Emultech is advancing its analytical capabilities so that we can better help you to accelerate your development and production timelines through improved drug loading measurement and optimization. These new scientific recruits, along with Mr. Fleming have joined the rest of the Emultech team at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven.
